Joy A Pellerin, MA, LPC
I began my career as a high school teacher. I quickly discovered I had a desire to help others beyond the classroom. While being a stay-at-home mother of three, I earned my master's degree in counseling and transitioned to being a working mom.
It is not my job to "fix" anyone. Instead, I want to work alongside them to provide support and help them become the best version of themselves.
My experience includes working with clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief using a trauma-informed integrative approach. I worked as a psychotherapist in a residential treatment facility for adolescents displaying maladaptive behaviors, such as self harming, verbal and physical aggression, running away, and other self-destructive tendencies. I am trained in EMDR, which is proven to help people heal from emotional distress and other symptoms caused by disturbing life experiences.
I believe success in therapy requires mutual respect and trust between a client and their therapist. I strive to empower my clients with the skills necessary to make positive changes in their lives. Whether past experiences or current stressors are to blame, I am willing to provide a supportive, caring approach in helping my clients achieve their goals.
